A spring day in Iowa!

Noel's turn outside on a nice spring day.
Noel following me around the yard (I was looking for asparagus)
Later in the day Bogart (left) and Grace found a little rodent to chase around.
This is a 12-second video of them trying to catch the creature.

Michelle's baby shower! (our niece)

This is the Brown Bear quilt (crib sized) I made for the baby.  It has
 other Eric Carle fabric, too!
"Rubber duckies" were the theme for this party!
Michelle greeting some of the guests (including Neal and his mom standing behind
 Michelle).
 Decorations in the Fellowship Hall!
Everything was very pretty--and delicious, too!

April scenes from Camp Stanhope

Bogie snuck up on Grace and startled her!  He's like a stealth creature....
You can call Bogart and not see him anywhere, and all of sudden he's at your feet.  It's happened to John before, too, so it's not just me.  I believe he may have had a 'cloaking' device installed!
We have farm ground around us for the second year (it used to be wetland grasses), and
it was time to take to the field Monday!
Last year soybeans were in this field, so I'm guessing it will be
 field corn this year.

Spring in April because March was like May!!

Things are in full bloom this week.
I was worried about the apple trees blooming so early with frost in the forecast, but so far, so good!
Bogart found me with the camera and came running...
All the cats have enjoyed rolling in the dirt piles leftover from the Christmas septic installation

Easter in Des Moines!

Great Uncle John didn't like his chin(s) in this picture, but it shows Blake's Easter outfit and tie! He had a vest on earlier, too, but Blake was too busy and warm to keep it on all day!
Great Uncle John compares Blake's fancy shoes to Great-Great Uncle Charlie's!  They were VERY similar!!!
Izaac plays with Blake and Blake's dad, Brian (Izaac's Uncle).
A really cute picture of Blake and his dad, Brian.
My nephew, Joe, took the camera and started taking pictures--this one
 of Uncle Charlie, giggling...

Meals from the Heartland of Stanhope, Iowa!!

We rarely gather without a few treats!!  Yum!!
The original goal was to raise $1000 to pay for a on-site packing through "Meals from the Heartland".  It was a lofty goal for two small churches, but we raised $1850!
This is the crowd gathered to listen to instructions given by the representative from "Meals from the Heartland".  (He forgot the video we were to see that explained the organization, etc.!)
I'm not sure what the final tally was for meals packed, but there are 36 individually-packed packages of food in each of those boxes.  Each bag contained protein, veggies, vitamins and rice.  Each of those bags  makes about 6 meals (with 6 cups boiling water added to reconstitute everything).
This was my packing line.  Those hairnets sure make us look 'fashionable'!  It was fun and gave us a good feeling we were helping people not only in other countries, but in our own state!
