April 30th, 2013, Little Wall Lake (Jewell, Iowa)

Well, at least this summer we won't have to jump from the dock down into the boat 8 to 10 feet!!  (We didn't actually try that last summer--we only went boating once!!)
Last year's severe drought has been given somewhat of a reprieve with more than 5 inches of rain this past month!
Tomorrow, after enjoying two days of almost 80 degrees, the forecast for our neighborhood is for rain mixing with snow and 40's and 50's through the beginning of next week!!!  oh well....

STILL waiting for Spring, April 18, 2013!!

Look closely.  YES, it's SNOWING!!!  It's been raining here for 3 days straight with barely a break, and now it's gotten colder and it started sleeting a few hours ago, and now it's snowing!!!
This is one of the apple trees waiting to bud, with flakes in flying in front of it!
Another view from my driveway towards the neighbor's house.  The top picture shows the snow better, though, and those are puddles in the field. I think the drought prayers are being answered!

It's Spring 4 1 2013

Growing up in the 'big city' (well, Des Moines is still the largest in Iowa...) you knew spring arrived when the grass needed mowed.
Living in the country for the last 16 years means driving on highways past farms (no matter how far you're going) that prove it must spring when you pass farms with baby animals.
I look forward to the seeing the babies every year!
