More pictures from Olivia's visit to Carroll (Iowa) March 30, 2014

Grandpa (John) feeding Olivia with Stig making sure he's doing it just right!
Uncle Marty (our son-in-law) got up with Olivia on his day off so her parents could sleep just a little bit longer.  I'm pretty sure they appreciated it!
Aunt Samantha (our daughter) on the 10pm shift for Olivia so her parents (who had been up at 2 a.m. to get on a plane to visit us the night before!) could get some rest.
Aunt Sam and Olivia (our granddaughter).

My friend, Kim, making a nice place for Olivia (our granddaughter) to rest after her busy morning.
The 'other' great-grandma Jean (John's mom) and our niece, Rachel, who drove from Minneapolis (Minnesota) to Carroll, (Iowa) just for chance to see Olivia (well, maybe she wanted to see us, too....).
Allison (daughter-in-law, Olivia's mom), Great Grandma Jean, Olivia (our granddaughter) and Alex (our son, Olivia's dad).

Welcome to Iowa Miss Livvy (and her parents, Alex/Allison!) March 26, 2014

Miss Olivia meeting Great grandparents Lenore and Bill (my folks)!
Great-great Uncle Charlie and Miss Olivia get acquainted (He's my uncle and my mom's older brother).
Amanda (my niece) holding Miss Livvy.
Allison (Olivia's mom, my daughter-in-law) holding Audrey (Amanda is her mom!).
This is all my mom's great-grandchildren. We weren't sure when this would happen again, so I asked for a line-up!  From left:  Reed (Michelle/Neal parents), Anthony, Blake (Brian/Nicole parents) Izaac (Amanda/Billy parents) is holding  his cousin, Harper (Michelle/Neal parents), Audrey (Amanda/Billy parents) and Olivia (Alex/Allison parents).

March 22, 2014

It doesn't seem to matter whether it's cold or not, these two (Ron and Pat) usually end up snuggling together for most naps.
Patrick enjoying a little time outside supervised by me so the strays don't bother them.
Bogie decided he needed to see what was up in the fork of this tree.  I haven't seen this 9 year old climb a tree for a very long time!
Spring is officially here, but that snow drift in the back still says it's cold outside!

Intruders and spring March 21, 2014

If you look close, The tail and part of the face of the big orange and white cat shows through the bushes (and the window I was taking the picture through...). There was a siamese-looking one with him, but it was pretty skittish.
This one was quite pretty, but we've never seen this one around the neighborhood before a couple of days ago.  It has moved on (hopefully).
This is the one who looks so much like Gracie (only smaller) it was a little spooky.
He (it??) was brave enough to come to the windows and John saw them on the patio together (not fighting) yesterday afternoon. Haven't seen him today, but not sure he's really gone from the neighborhood....
They make my cats CRAZY!  They get nervous, start picking on each other, and acting like they're wild, too!  I hate strays.  We borrowed a live trap and set it the other night with a bowl of cat food, but nothing was in it by morning.... oh well.

New pictures of our granddaughter March 14, 2014

Miss Livvy posing with her best buddy, Oliver, who will be 5 years old this spring. The caption on the picture I was sent said "best friends forever", and I believe that will be the case.  I'm sure Oliver will be her protector, too!  He's a good dog and has been very gentle with Miss Livvy.
Rocking the fleece outfit for last Sunday.
Received this picture (on my phone) on March 12, 2014.  LOVE that hat!!!!

The biggest peach rose blooms I've ever seen! March 10, 2014

So my dad gets us flowers for our birthdays (mom, my sister, Shirley, and me), and this is what he got for me (my birthday was last Sunday, but due to the snowstorm we had, we partied yesterday)!! It's gigantic and quite beautiful.
I got them home okay, and set them on the buffet.  Grace decided to sniff them a little, and Ron chewed on a piece of greenery that was hanging down, but they left it alone after that.

The latest flashes of Olivia: March 8, 2014

Miss Livvy at the Como Zoo Conservatory (in St. Paul, Minnesota) yesterday on her first big road trip! (We're home and missing her, and envious she's visiting a city we really enjoy, too.)
Miss Livvy meeting her great-Aunt Ann, who lives near Minneapolis.
This is a cute picture of her with her eyes open (a request of mine to my son the other day).  Man, those are some long fingers!

Snow and birds for March 3rd, 2014

These pheasants thought they would get a quick snack while Bogie watches from inside {where it was warmer than the record-breaking cold temperatures we're experiencing}.
This cardinal was waiting for its turn at the feeder yesterday.
A view of our new snow drifts.
Those are tracks that Patrick and Ron left while trudging through the snow to catch a bird at the feeder. (They didn't catch anything, however.....)
It's definitely pretty and white, but it's MARCH, and we should be having temperatures ABOVE freezing, not just above zero!!!!

Another snowy day in Iowa, but Olivia will brighten any day! March 1, 2014

Is our  new granddaughter really looking at her hand??  She has such long fingers for such a little person.  Maybe there's another piano player in the family besides her great Aunt Shirley??? (my sister... who can play anything she wants whenever she wants...... she's really very good and the rest of us have always been envious of her ability!)
Miss Livvy looks a little sleepy yesterday after 'smiling' so much for the camera while someone took some professional pictures of her.
