A few sewing projects done!! (done is good....)

This is now hanging in the front window instead of this door.... Those two big squares were a purchased panel, but I made the border and put it together!
This is my first attempt at a 'real quilt pattern' for a table runner.  It's a learning process for me, and I learned the way to do several things better on the next sewing project!

Indian summer in Iowa.... (Sunday, Oct. 21st, 2012!)

A view of part of Union Park in Des Moines looking towards the Des Moines River.
My sister drove by the old Carousel in Union Park and saw one of the gates open and thought it was open for rides for the nice weekend (it wasn't--someone was brushing paint on the animals for next spring!)...
Five-month old Reed was enjoying our company and the nice weather, except for fighting with new tooth coming in on the bottom gum...
Blake (19 months old) kept his Grandma Shirley busy chasing him as he enjoyed the short slide, a little swinging time and just running around!
Blake and his mom (Nicole) giving kisses as they get ready to depart.  That's Michelle behind Reed (Reed's mom).
Michelle 'stealing kisses' from her boy, Reed!!  He LOVED it!!

Mema's new kitchen window installation!

I have a son-in-law who is VERY handy (has worked constructing houses and remodeling for several years...) and mema hasn't been able to see out of her kitchen window for some time.  Our great-nephew, Izaac, decided he'd help, too, after he finishes his mac and cheese on the ladder!

So, Marty ordered the window and last week he went to Des Moines to install it, with a little help from the relatives.  That's my hubby, John, on the left, holding the window in place, and our nephew, Joe, handing the boys tools.
Here's the view now from the 'inside'.

Visitors....

This little 'hairy woodpecker' has been visiting the feeder this past week.

I think this is a nuthatch, but these two birds are together every time they've been at the feeder.

"Quilts of Love" from Stanhope Parish

A total of 41 lap-sized quilts were created and for the purpose of 'warming' someone's lap and heart.
The plan is to deliver them to shut-ins, nursing home patrons, hospital patients, or whomever needs to have their body and heart warmed by the quilts.

Sunday at Mema's house!

There's the newest great-nephew, Reed, giving me a big grin!  (That's his uncle Brian behind him.)
Uncle Brian has Reed, and Brian/Nicole's son, Blake, reviews the situation... (Reed is now 4 months old and Blake is 18 months old.)
Brian (my nephew) had his arms full of these boys!
Blake getting ready to jump into his dad's arms... He LOVES that game!!  (That's Blake and Reed's grandma Shirley, my sister, in the chair behind Blake.)

Pelicans on Twin Lakes near Rockwell City, Iowa!

Last week when were heading to Sac City to visit John's mom and aunt, we saw this long line of white on the water at Twin Lakes near Rockwell City.
This was a bunch of birds that had broken off from the main set of pelicans to find some lunch!
We could not even guess how many pelicans were on the water!
